The IT Cost Analyst operates under the IT Administration Unit, which is a part of the IT Governance department.  The IT Administration Unit is responsible for all procurement, invoice processing, budgeting and forecasting, and oversight of asset management programs.  The Atlas Air IT department is responsible for an annual budget of $60m and generates about 28k of General Ledger entries per year.   The IT Cost Analyst position plays a key role in describing both cost and benefits of IT platforms and initiatives and creates reports that are shared with senior staff in IT, sponsoring business units and financial planning and analysis departments.   The incumbent will produce high quality reports and dashboards that are thoroughly reviewed by project sponsors and management to determine project financial goals, progress, and retroactive degree of project success.   Using Nicus Cost Modeling tools, the Cost Analyst must feed data and sequencing instructions that enable full allocation of IT expenditures into value statements for executives to consume in their decision-making and approval processes.    will perform both routine and dynamic studies of project proposals, IT infrastructure unit costs, The position will perform key gathering and analysis of IT spend, consumption, and service delivery metrics in order to provide a central source for monitoring IT’s business performance and decision-support data.  Cost information is translated from the entire IT landscape, The scope of this position requires both technical skills in working with data and accounting as well as knowledge of the IT service delivery models and components.    This position interacts extensively with the staff, assets, and contracts within the IT department and executes on behalf of the IT needs and goals.    In addition to Excel, Ariba, and Nicus as the financial tools, this position will actively use 3^rd party portals, IT service ticketing system, Active Directory rosters, and other internal IT management tools to gather and validate information.

Data Analytics

• Collect, clean, and interpret data regarding the costs and units of service delivery within the IT department in order to enable optimal business decisions. Determine best practices in selection of data sources across IT scanning and management tools.
• Perform data analysis in order to provide descriptive reports of service unit prices, costs of applications, success rates on asset management practices, and other key blends of financial and consumption data.
• Blend data sources about Atlas labor forces, assets in use, licenses and entitlements, cost basis for managed services, and other service cost information and assist in the interpretation and testing of results that lead to decision support and publishing.
• Develop diagnostic and predictive trend data for both cyclical reporting and ad hoc usage.
• Gather data from financial systems, IT infrastructure management tools and invoices, and surveys or meetings. Model and test data for quality and validity.
• Review data and clean it to ensure it does not contain gaps, duplicates, errors, or unrecognized impact from outliers.
  • Use spreadsheets and well-documented steps to ensure that results are transparent and repeatable.
  • Communicate the assessment and actions taken so that foundational information is both trusted and available for year-over-year analysis.
• Develop repositories of information for immediate and long-range usage. Capture and record source data snapshots that support published work.
• Participate in IT benchmarking activities and develop skills as a professional IT cost analyst via professional associations such as IT Financial Management Association, IT Asset Management groups, and proactively participating in formal training for technology and best practices.

NICUS ITFM Software

• Develop tool expertise in order to be the primary driver for Nicus Cost Modeling software, ensuring that the sequences of cost aggregation and allocation flow logically and correctly through the model.
• Maintain annotations and documentation.
• Generate core models to reflect the total IT spend for benchmarking and planning.
• Develop what-if and targeted models for key business questions such as cost comparisons across IT platforms and over time. 
• Determine the correct schedules to refresh the various source data based on rates of change.

Other Duties

• Participate in meetings held by IT technical and project planning staff, ready to extract the estimates of potential savings and cost areas.
• Assist in developing the baseline case and data, as well as a plan to perform the after-action assessment of results.
• Publish and communicate results.
• Put together charts and graphics, write reports, and present the information to interested parties.
• Calculate savings driven by IT cost savings initiatives and projects with intended cost improvements.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, IT, or data related fields preferred, 4 – 6 years of experience
• Ability to utilize independent judgment in establishing the accuracy and reasonableness of financial payments, forecasts, and scope of approved services.
• Experience with cost modeling principles, databases, and Excel
• Ideally this candidate arrives with knowledge of IT, but if not, has demonstrated the ability to learn a body of knowledge that includes terminology, topographies, and process controls. The candidate must be willing and able to remediate knowledge of IT in order to bridge the communications and more importantly to perform technical account coding and work independently with a large landscape of service components.
• Ability to work cordially with people of different backgrounds in the organization, bridging the needs and terminology of corporate financial departments with the IT project and other staff to ensure data correctness
• Customer friendly and focused with strong attention to detail and ability to self-test work prior to publishing

Special demands:

• Ability to work additional hours during month end cycles and other financial deadlines

Salary Range: $67,500 - $91,100

Financial offer within the stated range is contingent on the qualification of selected candidates
