Overview

The Powerplant Engineer reports to the Manager, Powerplant Engineering and is responsible for the engineering data, instructions, documents, and technical support that economically ensures the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of Atlas Air aircraft within the following ATA chapter subjects: 24, 26, 30, 36, 49, 70- 80. 

Responsibilities

  • Project development, management, and implementation for repairs, modifications, or alterations.
  • Technical point of contact on assigned subject matter for troubleshooting assistance.
  • Issue instructions and documents to economically support operations and return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy, and timely manner.
  • Review OEM Service Bulletins and other regulatory documents such as Airworthiness directives (ADs) and Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) for implementation, and initiates required engineering documentation based on recommended disposition.
  • Provides support on investigations for safety, regulatory, and reliability matters.
  • Monitors Fleet performance and initiates corrective actions and improvements to maintain fleet health.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, repair & overhaul (MRO) facilities; outside engineering departments, regulatory personnel, and other outside agencies.
  • Establish component repair and build specifications to enhance dispatch reliability in accordance with budgetary and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ATA chapters 24, 26, 30, 36, 49, 70- 80
  • Administer the Engine Condition Monitoring Program
  • Review Powerplant portion of the Aircraft Maintenance and Inspection Program, and initiate maintenance program changes and changes to maintenance documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in preferred field of Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering or other technical equivalent degree.
  • 1-3 years of Airline/OEM/MRO experience minimum
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred.
  • Proficiency in technical analysis and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations or certification requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with aircraft engine systems and components.
  • Knowledge of turbofan and turbine engine operation, dynamics, performance, and build
  • Knowledge of failure analysis or root cause engineering, including metallurgical analysis

 

 

Salary Range: $81,500- $110,500

 

Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset.
