Overview

The position of Manager – Strategic Sourcing assists the Director of Technical Procurement in leading sourcing strategies for multiple spend categories of parts in a cross-functional team environment with the goal of achieving significant reductions in total cost of ownership.  In addition, the incumbent strives to deliver year-over-year productivity improvements while maintaining or improving service levels and reliability through procurement process development & innovation. The Manager works closely with key stakeholders from across the Technical Operations and aids other departments in developing effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans. This position will typically be coordinating sourcing activities & events representing up to $200+M in annual spend on aviation rotables, expendables and consumables to support Atlas Air’s global operations.

Responsibilities

  • Fiduciary duty to the company overall financial health, safety, security and compliance by strategically sourcing long-term, cost effective, reliable, and on-time supply of aircraft materials in coordination with the responsible department managers & buyers.
  • Lead and develop various projects that streamline the effectiveness of the Technical Procurement team including purchase-to-pay process, forecasting (in coordination with Material Planning), process compliance, cost modeling and data visibility.
  • Identify and execute cost savings projects across category portfolio.
  • Directs, monitors, and reports on Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) project. Institutes systems and procedures for Designated Engineering Representatives (DER) and Owner Operator Produced Parts (OOPP).
  • Develop and continually improve the tools used for efficiently executing sourcing events for use by the Technical Procurement team.
  • Enhance supplier management processes and increased collaboration with key suppliers to enhance synergies in support of Atlas Air’s business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain material cost tracking models for cost savings yielded through strategic sourcing.
  • Establish a mechanism for providing oversight & procurement expertise to AOG Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Accredited Masters Degree in business-related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or supply chain role.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills – able to construct/execute multiple complex analyses (e.g TCO, NPV; cost-price analyses) simultaneously
  • Ability to manage diverse projects simultaneously and the project management skills to successfully implement strategic programs with suppliers and internal process owners.
  • Ability to effectively present information, data and recommendations to all levels in the organization.
  • Solid planning/project management skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Proficiency in IT systems including WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint.
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Ability to lead and work with interdepartmental teams
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate time sensitive duties
  • Supervisory experience leading 8+ employees
  • Overnight travel: Up to 10%

Preferred

  • Experience in aviation
  • Category management experience
  • APICS, CPM or other supply chain or procurement-related training/certifications
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Basic SQL Server query

Salary Range: $85,500- $115,500

 

Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset."
